The first planning meeting for this year’s fete was in January and we thought “it’s eight months away – that’s lots of time!”. Now it is just around the corner, coming up really fast, only a week away and it all happens on Saturday 10th August.
It will be a great day of family fun on Evington Village Green. We have a full and varied programme planned. The Show Marquee will have many items that have been grown, made, baked, photographed, painted, glued, assembled, created and designed by the people and children of Evington. These will be judged in the morning and prizes awarded at the end of the day. Don’t miss the amazing creativity that will be on display.
We will have the Lutterworth band playing, Morris Dancers, a Singing Policeman (you can join in), fairground rides, bouncy castle, games for children and lots of stalls selling all manner of things. There will be a book stall and plant stalls.
There will be teas and coffees in the Village Hall and ice cream on the green of course!
Evington Chapel will open as usual in the afternoon and in the large room upstairs there will be a Creation exhibition with colourful posters and free leaflets and information to take away. All will be very welcome to drop in.
St Denys Church will be open and is celebrating its 800th Anniversary this year. There will be an exhibition of paintings in the church by the Evington Park Art Class. There will also be a re-enactment of the short service first held in the church to wish the American soldiers a safe passage as they left to take part in Operation Market Garden 75 years ago
We are really looking forward to seeing you all.
Saturday 10th August – open at 12 noon until 5.00 pm.
